HE EVENTUALLY EMIGRATED TO NEW ZEALAND AND ARRIVED ONTHE M.S RUALINE IN 1963,AND RETURNED TO ENGLAND IN 1965 AND RE-MARRIED.
THEN GEORGE & MARGARET RETURNED [N THE MAY OF 1965.

FLYING IS THE WAY TO TRAVEL FOR PLEASURE AND FOR BUSINESS A YOUNG TAURANGA MAN WHO   COMBINES  THE TWO IS MR. GEORGE HARMAN  FLYING A N.Z.REPRESENTATIVE'S, AND HIMSELF TO BUSINESS APPOINTMENTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

GEORGE FIRST STARTED FLYING  TO MAKE IT EASY FOR HIM TO COVER  AREAS FROM  COROMANDEL DOWN TO TAIHAPE AND OUT.

THERE, BEING A FAMILY BUSINESS OF 24 YEARS STANDING.ESTABLISHED BY AN UNCLE.
BUT FAMILY OR NOT, GEORGE WAS SHOWN NO FAVORITISM AND WAS "PUT THROUGH THE MILL" LIKE ANYBODY ELSE, LEARNING ALL ASPECTS OF THE BUSINESS.
THEN FIVE YEARS AGO HE WAS GIVEN THE RESPONSIBILITY OF STARTING A BRANCH IN TAURANGA. 
 HE SAYS .I ROLLED INTO 'T'AURANGA IN AN ANCIENT DE SOTO TRUCK WITH MY WIFE AND TWO CATS," HE RECALLED WITH A LAUGH.

STARTING OFF WITH A STAFF OF TWO, HIMSELF- AND AN EMPLOYEE,  GEORGE  WORKED HARD AND LONG TO GET THE BUSINESS TO ITS PRESENT SIZE.
 
TAURANGA NEWSPAPER REPORT.
A WELL KNOWN YOUNG  TAURANGA  BUSINESSMAN MR. GEORGE OWEN HARMAN, DIED AT TAURANGA ON SUNDAY AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS.

MR. HARMAN WAS 35, AND WAS THE PROPRIETOR OF HARMAN BUILDING'S LTD, A FIRM SPECIALISING IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF FACTORY- BUILT GARAGE'S, AND OUT BUILDINGS.
 
BEFORE HE CAME TO NEW ZEALAND FROM ENGLAND IN 1963 HE HAD BEEN A TRAIN, TRUCK ,AND BUS DRIVER AND DURING HIS NATIONAL SERVICE WITH THE BRITISH ARMY IN GERMANY.
 
IT WAS SHORTLY AFTER HIS NATIONAL SERVICE THAT HE DECIDED TO COME TO NEW ZEALAND TO LIVE. ALSO HE  HAD UNCLES THAT ALREADY LIVED IN NEW ZEALAND. THIS BEING HIS UNCLES FRED, & JESSE. FOR THREE YEARS HE  WORKED FOR HIS UNCLE JESSE WHO HAD SET UP A
BUILDING FIRM.
GEORGE THEN MOVED TO TAURANGA TO OPEN HIS OWN BRANCH.
FLYING WAS AN IMPORTANT PART OF HIS LIFE IN RECENT YEARS.
HE BEGAN FLYING LESSONS WITH THE TAURANGA   AERO CLUB IN 1968 AND GAINED HIS PRIVATE PILOTS LICENSE IN 1969.
IN THAT YEAR HE WAS ELECTED TO THE CLUBS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. HE FLEW EXTENSIVELY WITH THE CLUB AND ALSO DEVOTED MUCH TIME TO ITS ADMINISTRATION.
TO ASSIST HIS BUSINESS HE PURCHASED AN AIRCRAFT OF HIS OWN AND FLEW OVER MUCH OF NORTH ISLAND UNTIL QUITE RECENTLY.
 
HE WAS A POPULAR MEMBER OF THE CLUB AND EXCELLED IN COMPETITIVE FLYING.
 HE COMPETED SUSSES FULLY AT NATIONAL AERO CLUB PAGEANTS.
GEORGE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TAURANGA'S THREE AIRCRAFT FORMATION TEAM WHICH DEVELOPED ITS DEMONSTRATION FLYING TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT IT WAS PLACED ON THE PROGRAMME OF THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AERO CLUBS 1972 PAGEANT AT HAMILTON.
 
HE COMPETED IN LAST OCTOBERS NORTHERN AERO CLUB RALLY AT WHANGAREI AND WON THE EVENT IN WHICH GEORGE TOOK PART.
 
ANOTHER OF GEORGE'S INTERESTS WAS THE TAURANGA ST: JOHNS AMBULANCE. HE ENROLLED WITH THE AMBULANCE IN JUNE 1967 AND IN MARCH 1969 WAS PROMOTED TO CORPORAL.
 
 BECAUSE OF HIS BUSINESS INTERESTS HE RESIGNED EARLY LAST YEAR. DURING HIS SERVICE WITH THE AMBULANCE , GEORGE SPENT 101 HOURS ON PUBLIC DUTIES, SUCH AS ATTENDING SPORTS FEATURES . AS AN AMBULANCE DRIVER HE SPENT 284 HOURS BEHIND THE WHEEL AND JUST ON 3300 ON DRIVER STANDBY.
GEORGE HARMAN LEAVES A WIFE AND FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN.
GEORGE OWEN HARMAN DIED ON 25 Mar 1973 AT THE AGE OF 35.
